Chestertown Step

Pool Conveyance-

Invasive Species Management

EQR constructed a step-pool conveyance system with a series of step pools, weirs, and native plantings on the campus of Washington College in Chestertown, MD.  Controlling the invasive species were part of the contract.  Johnson Grass and Canadian Thistle both on the Maryland Noxious Weed List were managed on this site after EQR construction crews installed the step pools and the site was then planted with Atlantic coastal plain region native species.

The native plants needed time to establish themselves and controlling the invasives was critical to the long-term success of the project.   Follow-up site visits were part of the restoration effort to ensure the native plant population was given ample time to become established.
