Native Plant Nursery Manager/Grower

We are looking for a Native Plant Nursery Manager/Grower to develop and manage our native plant nursery production operation. Knowledgeable manager will use experience in agriculture/horticulture, business, and management to further develop and deliver high quality plants to the environmental restoration industry.  Come GROW with us!


Responsibilities include:

  • Manage overall logistics of our growing operations

  • Train staff in efficient nursery operations and proper plant care to include, potting, watering, pruning, weeding, cultivating, fertilizing, spraying, etc.

  • Understand and train staff on the safe operation of tools and equipment used in horticulture.

  • Maintain an accurate nursery inventory and production schedule of plant availability 

  • Produce plans for ordering and merchandising of nursery product

  • Perform or oversee the maintenance and general repairs of irrigation systems, heaters, greenhouses, & equipment

  • Deliver high quality/value plants to the environmental restoration industry.

 

Qualifications:

  • This position requires manual dexterity of the hands and bending, and twisting associated with heavy lifting. This position requires lifting heavy materials and equipment and requires working outside in the elements, in all seasons and weather conditions. The body senses of sight, hearing (safety), and verbal communication is required.

  • Must be able lift and carry 60 lbs.

  • Driver's License

  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture and/or previous nursery/growing experience

  • Business and/or management experience (Preferred)

Pay Range: $55 - 75,000 / year

​

This position will be based out of our Upper Marlboro MD growing facility.
