Native Plant Nursery Manager

Native Plant

The Nursery Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of the nursery facility. This role supervises Nursery Assistants, coordinates facility maintenance activities, and promotes safety initiatives across the site. The position also supports the maintenance, repair, and improvement of greenhouse structures, production equipment, irrigation systems, and facility infrastructure.

This is a hands-on role requiring working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within a greenhouse or production environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily maintenance and facility operations within the nursery.

  • Supervise and support Nursery Assistants and maintenance staff

  • Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on greenhouse structures and equipment.

  • Repair and maintain mechanical equipment used in greenhouse operations.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and irrigation system issues.

  • Install and maintain production equipment and facility systems.

  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance projects with the General Manager or Assistant General Manager.

  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and promote workplace safety initiatives.

  • Maintain general housekeeping and organization of the facility.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.

  • Ability to drive maintenance equipment – necessary certifications.

 

Requirements

  • Advanced technical certification, horticulture training, or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience as a Grower required

  • General knowledge of mechanical systems, power equipment, electrical systems, and plumbing (PVC/irrigation).

  • Minimum 3 years of horticulture or greenhouse production experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards for production or greenhouse facilities.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and operate maintenance equipment (required certifications may apply).

  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and be available for emergency call situations when needed.

  • Bilingual skills are a plus

Pay- $65k - $75k
